Electrical Communication Equipment Used by the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad

This page will be used as a collecting point for information on electrical communication devices used by the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad on its narrow gauge railroads in Colorado and New Mexico. The narrow gauge division is particularly interesting due to the two significant sections that have been preserved and are operating as steam-powered tourist railroads. There is significant interest in the preserving the historical aspect of these remaining pieces of the railroad. This page attempts to document some of the instruments used to facilitate communications on the line. Although obscure to the railfan, these instruments played a vital role in the safe and efficient operation of the railroad in the mountains and deserts through which it traveled.
